Grenada and Honduras duel in CONCACAF Gold Cup
Grenada and Honduras face off in the Gold Cup at the FIU Stadium in Miami Saturday morning.
Grenada was walloped by Jamaica 0-4 in its opening Group B match. Adding to head coach Michael Adams' woes is the internal conflict in his squad after two of his players scuffled during Wednesday's training session.
"The last 20 minutes we finished ok, but then we had an incident between two players who got at each other and I have never seen anything like it. It was very ugly," Adams told boxscorenews.com
"The situation with the two players will be dealt with in house,"
"Obviously I'd like things to calm down first. The players did eat together last night and all the players were present. It didn't carry on, so let's see what happens," explained Adams, who declined to name the players involved in the incident.
Honduras will also try to bounce back after being held to a goalless draw by Guatemala in its opening match.
Head coach Luis Fernando Suárez admitted that he was disappointed with the performance of his players.
"The team should have been more intelligently when moving the ball around," he said.
"Guatemala did what they wanted to do - they complicated things. Their objective was to make it so where there wasn't any clear movement of the ball, and they slowed down our creative players."
Suárez also revealed that Wilson Palacios is doubtful for tomorrow's match. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder underwent a knee surgery in March and has yet to regain his top form.
"We don't want to risk him, and we'd rather he concentrate on his future career and not play him too early." Suárez said.
