Perez goal secures draw for Panama against Mexico in Houston; Group A final round this evening from Miami and the 500th Gold cup goal
The 47,000 fans at Reliant Stadium saw two entertaining games last night with Guadeloupe defeating Nicaragua 2:0 with two goals in ninety seconds, 12 minutes into the second half in the first game.
In the later game, Mexico and Panama played out a 1:1 draw. Miguel Sabah gave El Tri the lead which was the 500th goal scored in Gold Cup history, before Blas Perez leveled the game for the Canaleros.
This evening, it’s the final round of Group A games with Costa Rica playing Canada in the opener and El Salvador facing Jamaica in the second game at FIU Stadium in Miami. The seventh of 13 cities to host Gold Cup matches in the 2009 Gold Cup, FIU Stadium is a new venue for the tournament, but Miami’s Orange Bowl hosted matches in the last six consecutive competitions (1998-2007).
