Honduras and Jamaica out to win Group B in CONCACAF Gold Cup
Honduras and Jamaica will fight for the top spot in Group B of the CONCACAF Gold Cup Tuesday morning.
The Hondurans have four points, two behind Jamaica.
Honduras is coming off a 7-1 demolition of Grenada. Carlo Costly scored a hat trick while Jerry Bengston added two goals. Walter Martinez and Alfredo Mejia were the other scorers for Los Catrachos.
Despite their big win over Grenada, Honduras head coach Luis Fernando Suarez admits that the Jamaicans are a tough test.
"We have to play differently. It's a different opponent." he told boxscoresnews.com
"It (Jamaica) is a hard team. They've very fast. They have very good attacking players. The counterattack could be a problem."
Jamaica, meanwhile, is coming off a 2-0 victory over Guatemala. Demar Phillips scored a brace to lead the Reggae Boyz to their second-straight win in the tournament.
Jamaica head coach Theodore "Tappa" Whitmore will rest some of his key players tomorrow to spare them from getting more yellow cards. Goalkeeper Dwayne Miller, Adrian Reid, Omar Daley, Keammar Daley, Jevaughn Watson and Damian Williams have been named as starters in the absence of their regulars.
"As much as this game is important, we have a squad of players and a number of changes will be made going into this match and I think these players we are injecting will be hungry," Whitmore said.
"So I think it will be more difficult for the Honduran team because they are looking at us and they know what we have, but I think they have a next guess coming."
