USA and Canada meet in a classic North American clash in Detroit on Wednesday.
The Ford Field in Detroit plays host to the CONCACAF Gold Cup match between the United States and Canada Wednesday morning.
The Americans are the favorites to win this match-up having won this tournament in 1991, 2002, 2005 and 2007. USA, which finished runner-up to Mexico in 2009, should have no problem winning Group C and progressing to the quarterfinal round.
Head coach Bob Bradley will parade a veteran line-up led by Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley, Steve Cherundolo, captain Carlos Bocanegra and goalkeeper Tim Howard.
Despite coming off a 0-4 defeat at the hands of World Cup champions Spain in a recent friendly, Bradley is confident that his wards will do well in CONCACAF's most prestigious tournament.
"In addition to being the best team in CONCACAF, there is that extra part in representing CONCACAF in the Confederations Cup and what that means in terms of experience in helping you prepare for the World Cup," he said.
"We certainly look at this Gold Cup as carrying that extra bit of importance."
Canada, meanwhile, is not about to go down easily. After all, it is the only other country to have won the Gold Cup outside the United States and Mexico.
Out to lead the squad are Red Bull New York midfielder Dwayne De Rosario, the only remnant of their 2000 champion squad, central midfielder Julian de Guzman and Will Johnson. Another player to watch is Norwich City mainstay Simeon Jackson.
The Canadians, however, will be without Dejan Jakovic after the DC United defender sustained a hamstring injury in their friendly against Ecuador last week. David Edgar will take his place in the squad.
